Course Description
The multidimensionality of pain implies the need for an interdisciplinary, comprehensive and coordinated intervention between the different professionals that make up the healthcare teams. This is always a necessity but, in the field of palliative care, it is an essential requirement for the care effort to reach its ultimate goal, the patient's well-being.

In the context of terminal illness and palliative care, pain is a preponderant symptom, responsible for a large part of the loss of comfort and functional decline in the patient. The meaning of pain is different for each person and situation: decreased autonomy, threat and suffering, poor prognosis, near death, loss of quality of life, dependency, etc. In addition, the patient's responses to pain will not depend solely on the noxious stimulus or damage to some part of the body, but also on factors related to the personal characteristics of each individual, previous experiences and beliefs, both their own and those of the patient. social and cultural nucleus to which one belongs, condition the final answer.
