El programa de ingeniería agroindustrial de la universidad del Sinú Elías Bechara Zainúm está enfocado en desarrollar el espíritu investigativo del futuro ingeniero, fortaleciendo sus bases académicas en la creación y desarrollo de nuevos productos, los cuales se podrán comercializar en los mercados regionales, nacionales e internacionales, además busca generar fortalezas en las diferentes cadenas productivas del sector agrícola y pecuario, todo esto hace que el ingeniero genere conocimiento integral para que este pueda a través de sus bases cognitivas y experimentales crear nuevas empresas agroindustriales que impulsen el desarrollo de la economía de la región y del país.
El programa se encamina hacia el aprovechamiento de los recursos agrícolas, forestales y pecuarios, teniendo en cuentas las políticas ambientales y el desarrollo sostenible, así como la implementación de nuevas tecnologías aplicadas en los procesos agroindustriales, siendo amigables con el medio ambiente basado en las normas internacionales de calidad. El proceso formativo diseñado para la Escuela de Ingeniería Agroindustrial de la Universidad del Sinú – Seccional Cartagena, está enfocado en los principios institucionales basando toda su estructura en un modelo donde el egresado disponga de fundamentos y conocimiento científico bajo principios de equidad y justicia. El programa de Ingeniería Agroindustrial busca aportar al estudiante los mejores elementos de la disciplina en lo referente a teorías, conceptos, metodologías, herramientas, técnicas, tecnología, investigación e innovación en el campo de la ingeniería Agroindustrial puesto que goza de un alto potencial en diferentes campos donde puede poner en práctica los conceptos aprendidos durante su proceso formativo.
El Ingeniero Agroindustrial de la Universidad del Sinú Elías Bechara Zainúm es un profesional integral y éticamente orientado, con la capacidad de diseñar, controlar y organizar procesos que integren la producción primaria, la transformación y el mercadeo de productos, de origen agropecuario, al igual que el aprovechamiento de subproductos a partir de materias primas de origen biológico. Con habilidades y competencias técnicas,humanas, administrativas, analíticas y de innovación al servicio de las empresas del sector agroindustrial a nivel regional y nacional, para mejorar la calidad de vida de la comunidad.
El Ingeniero de Agroindustrial egresado de la Universidad del Sinú Elías Bechara Zainúm, desarrollará conocimientos y habilidades sólidas para desempeñarse en cargos de gran valor en el sector agroindustrial en las siguientes áreas:
AREA 1: FOOD AGROINDUSTRY
- Supervisor de planta de agroindustrias alimentarias.
- Jefe de Sistemas de Gestión de la calidad.
- Coordinador de proyectos de investigación agroindustriales en el sector alimentario.
- Manager of agro-industrial companies in the food sector.
- Evaluator and/or controller of projects in the food agro-industrial sector.
- Auditor interno o externo de sistemas de inocuidad en alimentos bajo estándares globales como HACCP & ISO 22000.
AREA 2: NON-FOOD AGROINDUSTRY
- Supervisor de planta de agroindustrias no alimentarias.
- Jefe de Sistemas de Gestión de la calidad.
- Coordinador de proyectos de investigación agroindustriales en el sector no alimentario.

- Evaluator and/or controller of projects in the non-food agro-industrial sector.
The student:
- Strengthen knowledge in the field of natural sciences and mathematics, based on the analysis of problem situations, applying processes of categorization, synthesis, classification, interpretation and argumentation.
- Integrate conceptual elements on the main theories of the life sciences and their phenomenological expression in the disciplinary fields of the agri-food field.
- Develop strategies to increase the personal and professional heritage of students and future graduates, through self-motivation for learning throughout professional life.
- Apply entrepreneurship and research as a tool to design and execute solutions that seek to improve the food and non-food agro-industrial sector.
- Assuming an ethically oriented behavior, will guide their actions by humanistic principles, will discover research as a valuable tool for the construction of solutions that favor the improvement of the quality of life of those who constitute their environment in order to contribute to the improvement of society.
