Train competent psychologists in evaluation, diagnosis, intervention, prevention and investigation of clinical and mental health problems in children and adolescents and in the use of evidence-based models that have shown effectiveness.

Professional profile

The Specialist in Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology graduated from the University of Sinú, Cartagena Section, will be characterized as a professional capable of:
  •  Identify the different problems of childhood and adolescence in the different contexts in which this population develops.
  • Evaluate and diagnose childhood clinical problems using the technical strategies and evaluation methods of Cognitive-Behavioral Psychology from a developmental psychopathology approach.
  •  Formulate and carry out comprehensive and integrated analyzes of children's clinical problems, theoretically supporting said formulations.
  •  Design and implement basic individual and group treatment plans for children and adolescents to achieve psychological recovery and rehabilitation using effectiveness models and evidence-based treatments.

Occupational profile

The Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychologist will be able to perform in institutional clinical contexts belonging to the National Health System, may be part of the psychosocial teams in justice and peace processes, in the institutions responsible for the protection of children and adolescents. Likewise, it will be able to participate in the processes of individual and collective reparation of the victims of the armed conflict, it will be able to therapeutically assist children victimized and disassociated from the armed conflict. On the other hand, you will be able to lead planning teams, large-scale mental health services, in attention to simple and complex emergencies, you will be able to work as a teacher in the area of specialization and as a researcher to strengthen the generation of high-impact knowledge.
