The specialization in Medical Law of the Universidad del Sinú Elías Bechara Zainúm Seccional Cartagena, will train law and health professionals in the generation of knowledge and the acquisition of essential skills to understand from a macroscopic and interdisciplinary perspective the right to health without neglecting its humanitarian nature, studying in depth the behaviors that generate legal responsibility in this matter and the situations that create risks that threaten the well-being of the human being, making available to the professional the regulations, the jurisprudential analysis, the comparative law and the doctrine on matter.

El especialista en derecho médico será un profesional con un enfoque humanístico, consciente del compromiso social que juegan las ciencias de la salud, abarcando el contenido y alcance de derechos inherentes a la materia (vida, salud, ambiente sano, entre otros) y articulándolo con un conocimiento sólidamente estructurado en el Sistema de Seguridad Social Integral y Sistema de Salud entendiendo la normatividad que determina su operatividad, las relaciones jurídicas que se configuran en torno a la prestación de los servicios de salud, los roles que juegan sus actores y que los comprometen en su actuar, enfatizando igualmente en el que hacer de los profesionales de la salud frente al paciente, bajo la óptica de la confianza puesta por la sociedad quien le exige el cumplimiento de los deberes impuesto por el ordenamiento jurídico y la ciencia con el fin loable de amparar el bienestar físico y psicológico del ser humano. Un profesional fortalecido en buscar los mecanismos que sirvan de apoyo al sistema de salud y las estrategias inclinadas en prevenir los daños, percatándose de los riesgos que rodean nuestro sistema de salud, escogiendo la mejor forma de administrarlos impidiendo que incida negativamente sobre la integridad del usuario y en el ámbito financiero de una institución.

The specialist in medical law will strive to achieve the development of the health sector in our region and the country by using the human and disciplinary skills acquired in meeting the needs of our community, being a new source of knowledge through its own legal criteria and an investigative spirit.

Specialists in Medical Law (regardless of their discipline), will have elements that will allow them to manage, advise, lead, audit and participate as employees or external advisors of a health entity (IPS, EPS, ARL, ESE, entities of prepaid medicine, laboratories, etc.), participate in politics, public positions or teaching in related subjects.
In particular, lawyers specializing in Medical Law will have the tools to act as litigants, judges, legal assistants, advisors in processes arising from conflicts of medical or health law, advisors to health professionals, IPS, EPS, ARL, ESE, prepaid medicine entities, laboratories, etc. Likewise, they will have the knowledge to focus on the prevention of legal risks in the provision of health services, providing advice and legal assistance in the anticipation and assurance of the same. For their part, health professionals specializing in medical law will have knowledge that allows them to better exercise their profession, which will allow them to minimize the legal risks derived from it, they can act as advisors, auditors or exercising control of quality in health providers (IPS, EPS, ARL, ESE, prepaid medicine entities, laboratories, etc.) and focus on the implementation of legal risk prevention plans in the provision of health services.
