banner

Wounds are a loss of continuity in the skin or mucosa of traumatic origin and with unequal involvement of adjacent structures and when spontaneous healing is not possible, they must be closed artificially, and we will resort to sutures.

Suture is the material intended to promote wound healing by keeping the tissues close together in such a way as to reduce the tension between them until the wound has healed enough to resist tension without mechanical supports.

  • Provide the knowledge and techniques for the student to acquire skills in handling wounds and performing sutures Specific objectives:
    • Know the different types of sutures and their use
    • Recognize the different types of wounds
    • Gain the ability to properly perform a suture

This course is intended for students to acquire the necessary knowledge regarding wounds and the different types of sutures and to acquire the skills to skillfully perform wound closure with the different types of sutures. This skill is necessary for the student's performance in the management of wounds in the medical emergency service and in the operating room service where the student must rotate in his medical practice.
